20 Questions: Jordan Turner-Hall – Harlequins centre

Jordan Turner-HallHappy to be back after injury?
Really pleased. It's been a while (September) but I've done my rehab, worked closely with the physios and everything's on track.
What was the nature of your injury?
I had a couple of labral tears and a clean-out of my hip. It was quite serious and you don't want to mess around with major joints like that.
Been frustrating watching?
To be honest, I've been in my own little world, working with the conditioners, doing weights and just focussing on coming back stronger and fitter.
Remember your Quins debut?
Yes. It was 2005, away at Pertemps Bees in National One, playing alongside Will Greenwood and Andrew Mehrtens. That's nine years ago… blimey!
Best Quins memory?
The ultimate has to be winning the in 2012. When you see how far people like , and have come, it shows how good the environment and camaraderie is here.
Where did you start out in rugby?
In the minis and juniors at Hove RFC. After that I went to Brighton College, who had an affiliation with Quins.
Who were your early mentors?
I had a few. Tony Russ got me to Quins but a guy called Mike Akfield at Hove was awesome. Then there was John Mallett, the ex- prop, who took me under his wing and Richard Halsall, who's now an cricket coach. I owe them all.
Play any other sports?
Football, cricket and American football. I played gridiron for Brighton B52s, Sussex Thunder and Great Britain as a running back before moving into rugby.
All-time sporting hero?
Ian Wright. I'm a big fan of The Gunners. I've never met him but I'm still hoping!
And rugby heroes?
Tana Umaga was the complete centre, and I've always studied Ma'a Nonu closely. Then there's Jonah Lomu, who was a cut above anyone else.
If not rugby, what would you be doing?
I'd be struggling! I've dabbled in property but that's too stressful and very expensive, so I'd probably be involved in sport… maybe coaching.
Used to live with Danny Care, didn't you?
In the madhouse, yes. But I've got my own place back in Brighton now, just up the road from . DC was great fun to live with… always bubbly.
What winds you up?
People eating with their mouths open… and bad manners generally. Saying please and thank you doesn't cost anything, does it?
Best and worst chat at Quins?
Paul Doran-Jones is up there, George Robson is worst, hands down. It's relentless but horrific. And Nic Mayhew's got no chat.
Tell us something unusual about Conor O'Shea?
He's got a weird thumb that sticks up like a joystick. He broke it once and never got it fixed properly. Shake his hand and have a look!
If you could invite three dinner guests, who?
Jennifer Lopez, she's my dream woman; Ian Wright; and Genghis Kahn, who I read a book about and sounds quite interesting.
Dream holiday destination?
I went to Thailand and Bali last year and would definitely go back to Bali. I just enjoy chilling out on a nice beach with some good food. Las Vegas isn't bad, either.
Best and worst dressed at Quins?
He's finished now but Olly Kohn was the worst by a mile, along with Mark Lambert for his atrocious T-shirts. DC, Ugo Monye, Tom Williams and Ollie Lindsay-Hague fix up pretty well.
Any pre-match rituals?
It sounds horrible but I'm sick before every game. It happens within 20 minutes of getting into the changing room and is just down to nerves and anxiety.
Ambitions for rest of season?
To be in the mix at Quins and contributing to the team. Beyond that, my aspiration is to add to the two England caps I won in 2012.
