Jack van Poortvliet’s feet have hardly touched the ground over the last few months and he admits he is now “sick of flying”.

But the scrum-half – who spent the summer travelling around the planet for work and pleasure – is confident he and his Leicester Tigers team-mates will be soaring high in the Premiership table and able to lift the title this time round.
Van Poortvliet went from last season’s “hurtful” play-off semi-final loss to Northampton Saints to starting in England’s Nations Championship battles against South Africa, Fiji and Argentina.
