Second rows are regularly used at wing forward but Northampton Saints’ Ed Prowse has settled into the position after being converted from tighthead prop.
The 25-year old came through the Saints academy and made his senior debut four years ago.
His appearances were sporadic before he had a chat with director of rugby Phil Dowson during pre-season in 2024.
“He called me in and said he did not see my future at tighthead,” said Prowse whose eight appearances for the club in the front row have more than quadrupled in the two campaigns he has been at lock.
