For the moment it is jaw-jaw rather than war-war in the Championship’s dispute with the RFU over their right to be part of the consultation for the new PGP (Professional Game Partnership), and their rejection of the ‘Premiership 2’ blueprint favoured by the Twickenham administration.
A new spirit of co-operation is in the air following the owners and chief executives of the 11 Championship clubs arriving in force for their meeting with RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney and performance director Conor O’Shea at Twickenham on February 8.
