Gatland’s call: New lock and stand-in skipper

LIONS tour boss Warren Gatland reacted calmly to the devastating loss of his captain Alun Wyn Jones.
“We’ve got to make the right decisions as quickly as we possibly can and in the calmest way we possibly can,” he said.
First he decided to call up Wales lock Adam Beard as replacement. Jonny Gray of Exeter who scored in yesterday’s Premiership final defeat by Harlequins at Twickenham and James Ryan of Leinster had been tipped earlier.
The Lions’ current second row options include Tadhg Beirne, Iain Henderson, Jonny Hill, Maro Itoje and Courtney Lawes.
