Former England captain Jo Yapp wants to “help shape the future of women’s rugby for years to come” after being named as the first British and Irish Lions Women coach for next year’s inaugural tour in New Zealand.
Yapp became the head of England women’s pathway after guiding Australia to the quarter-finals of last autumn’s World Cup.
She won 70 caps as a scrum-half and went to three World Cups, leading the Red Roses to the 2006 final before embarking on a coaching career with spells with England Women U20s, Worcester Warriors and the Barbarians.
