Wasps 62-12 Bristol: Katie Mason hat-trick as Wasps build up for semi

KATIE MASON'S hat-trick helped put on a show of strength prior to their semi-final against .

Welcoming back their trio of Claudia MacDonald, Abby Dow and Ellie Kildunne, the Wasps backline was too hot to handle for , the Premier 15s second leakiest defence.

Mason gave the hosts the lead on three minutes as the ball was worked from right to left quickly by Flo Williams and Kildunne to Mason, free on the left wing, to run in the try.

They had their second when lineout jumper Delaney Burns spilled the ball in the Wasps half for Harriet Millar Mills to claim.

The ball was recycled infield where Katie Alder found a gap to burst through and pass to Ellie Boatman, who was brought down by oppsite number Phoebe Murray.

Wasps spread the ball wide and into the hands of Millar Mills who skipped two tacklers before offloading to MacDonald for the try.

Williams added another to Wasps' fast start before Rownita Marston scored Bristol's first, but Giselle Mather's side closed the half with additional tries for MacDonald, Mason and Alder to hold a 38-7 lead.

The visitors tightened up their defence but Wasps could only be held out for 15 minutes before fatigue allowed tried by Alder, Mason and two for Kildunne to complete proceedings.

Bears replacement Chelsea Jones replied, scoring her first try for the club.
