Second-half blitz sees leaders put on a show

AFTER a tightly contested opening 55 minutes, Chinnor pulled away with five second-half tries.

Looking full of confidence, league-leaders Chinnor opened the scoring after just two minutes, making it look easy as they worked an overlap for winger Grant Hughes.

However, Richmond tackled hard and competed aggressively in a tightly fought physical encounter. With the wind in their favour, Lewis Dennett kicked a penalty, before skipper Alex Post scored in a corner courtesy of good hands from Paddy Case and Matt Marsh.

Chinnor were impressive all game with their line-out drives and Alun Walker levelled the scores from one, before danger man Hughes steamed through a gap to score under the posts.

Two Dennett penalties brought the scores close and for a while Chinnor looked under pressure. However, Richmond suffered an array of injuries in the last quarter and under pressure referee Owen Taylor awarded two yellow cards, one for collapsing the maul and one for contested backchat.

With Richmond mostly limited to 13 men, Chinnor finished with a flourish, Hughes running in a fine solo try, George Worboys chasing down a long kick ahead, and Kieran Goss completing an overlap on the wide left, as Richmond simply ran out of bodies.
