A special day for Robbins to relish

…………………….62 Wimbledon…………. 19

WINGER Ben Robbins enjoyed a first-half hattrick as leaders Esher secured a ten-try triumph over second-bottom Wimbledon.

Esher began imperiously as James Botterill and Robbins bagged early tries, the latter converted by Sam Morley.

The leaders flexed their muscles before the break with five tries in 14 minutes.

First, Pierre Thompson darted over, with Andrew Hamilton following suit to clinch an early bonus point. Morley converted both.

Three more scores duly arrived, courtesy of two well-taken Robbins tries, sandwiched by Myles Rawstron-Rudd's fivepointer.

After a quiet third quarter, Wimbledon struck with Tomasz Posniak's five-pointer, made seven by Edward Morgan's conversion.

Poked into action, Esher scored twice in quick succession. Sam Bullock notching try number eight before Botterill's brace secured Esher's ninth.

The visitors struck again through Devlin Hope's converted try.

Two minutes later, Benjamin Kirby got Esher's tenth try of the day, which was converted by Morley.

Wimbledon replacement Antonio Machado had the final say with an unconverted score.
