Wilstead leads the charge in Barnes triumph

N Walsham…… 24

BARNES had the upper hand over in an exciting and entertaining tentry encounter.

Revelling in their unstructured style, the visitors caused the home team a headache and at one stage they trailed by only two points at 21-19.

Barnes got off to a perfect start, scoring straight from the kick off through fly-half Tom Wilstead, who converted his own try.

More than 20 minutes later, North Walsham notched their first score, fly-half Harry Langbridge running through a sleepy Barnes defence to make it all square.

Barnes scored again just before half-time, hooker Matt Humphreys crashing over and Wilstead converting to make it 14-7 at the break.

Wilstead scored his second try from the restart and converted it, too, as Barnes looked to be stretching away.

However, tries from Wesley MacGuire and Tawanda Kademwa in the 42nd and 49th minutes kept North Walsham in it.

Approaching the last quarter, North Walsham saw yellow twice and Barnes were awarded a penalty try for the first offence.

Cam Ruddock and Ryan Seabright both scored after sustained Barnes pressure, Wilstead converting both.

Vikings' Kademwa then got his second try.
