Broadstreet 29
Wimbledon 41
WIMBLEDONfaced a door- die clash away at Broadstreet and delivered when the pressure was on with a bonus-point victory, boosting their chances of avoiding relegation.
Things looked ominous when the Dons got off to the worst possible start as Broadstreet’s Christopher Idehen crossed after just three minutes and Gavin Tusini saw yellow after six.
The hosts doubled their advantage on 13 minutes as Nick Rhodes got his name on the scoreboard, with Dale Glover adding the extras.
Glover then added a penalty to create a 15-0 lead before the fightback. It started with scrumhalf Harry Tabb’s try, converted by James Doe, with wing Sam O’Leary- Blade also sneaking in before half-time to create a one-point deficit.
Broadstreet full-back Harry Hudson extended the lead after half-time, converted by Glover, but minutes later Chris York crossed for the visitors.
The hosts would score one more try, through Edmund Boxall, but Wimbledon dominated the last 30 minutes with Doe’s try, followed up by scores for Daniel Laventure and Andrew Hore.
Doe also weighed in in that final period with two conversions and a penalty, meaning the Dons claim five points and are seven behind 14th-placed London Irish Wild Geese.
