London Breeze is thrilled to be partnering with Dogwoof and Cinema in the Power Station for the London premiere of LOMU

London Breeze is thrilled to be partnering with Dogwoof and Cinema in the Power Station for the London premiere of LOMU – an intimate and heartfelt portrait of Jonah Lomu, the most adored son of the Pacific, a legendary All Black, who transcended the game with his immense power and unstoppable determination.

LOMU offers an intimate portrait of the man behind one of ‘s most recognisable figures.

Born in South Auckland to Tongan parents, Lomu rose from humble beginnings to become the youngest-ever All Black at just 19 and, following his extraordinary performance at the 1995 Rugby , rugby’s first global superstar.

Yet behind the phenomenal sporting achievements was a shy and private man whose life was shaped by his Tongan heritage, unprecedented fame, intense media scrutiny and a devastating kidney condition.

Personal

Directed by Gavin FitzGerald and Vea Mafile’o, the documentary draws on personal photographs, previously unseen material and interviews with those closest to Lomu, including his mother Hepi and brother John.

The film also archival interviews with Lomu himself, alongside contributions from former teammates, coaches and those who witnessed his extraordinary rise first-hand.

“Jonah Lomu was more than a sporting icon. He changed the way the world saw rugby,” says Sam Cullis, Founder, London Breeze Film Festival.

“We are thrilled to bring LOMU to London and to give our audience the opportunity to experience this remarkable story on the big screen.”

The screening is another example of its commitment to bringing compelling independent cinema and filmmakers to London audiences throughout the year.

The festival, which began in 2015 as Film Festival, is now a BIFA qualifying festival dedicated to championing emerging filmmakers and diverse voices from around the world.

The LOMU London premiere comes just weeks before the 11th London Breeze Film Festival, which takes place across London from 21st – 25th October 2026, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals and film lovers for five days of independent cinema, Q&As, industry events and showcases.

LOMU is produced by Sylver Entertainment and Velvet Moss, with UK sales and distribution from Dogwoof.
