Sutton & Epsom ..43
Bournemouth……..19
FOR Sutton it was the rare moment when the sequel was better than the original as they toppled Bournemouth in their rescheduled fixture, securing a priceless bonus point victory.
S&E had the perfect start when Kyren Ghumra ran back a clearance kick in the third minute for a stunning solo score.
They doubled the score through a jinking run from Jamie See after ten minutes, with James Bourton adding the extras as they raced to a 14-0 lead.
With the wind in their favour and Bournemouth bedevilled with injuries, Sutton dominated the first period.
Two additional tries from Izaiah Moore-Aiono and returning veteran scrum-half Steve Munford saw the Black & Whites lead 26-0 at the interval.
After an early Sutton penalty in the second 40, the Lions struck back with determination with a brace of tries near the hour mark.
A splendid burst from prop Ryan Hughes was followed by a Tobias Kenneally score, before Chris Farrell crossed for the hosts to allay their fears of a comeback.
In the final five minutes captain Alan Manning concluded the scoring for the visitors before Izaiah Moore- Aiono grabbed his second and Sutton’s sixth.
In what was pegged as the basement battle, it was Sutton who secured the spoils.
