A player with a fascinating career is adding a fresh chapter as he makes the move to Ashton Gate this season.
Jordan is a quality operator and is sure to make a significant contribution to the strong Bristol Bears side.
Over recent years, we have seen players come to England and make a real difference. Players such as Finn Russell and Tomos Williams have taken their game to another level.
Jordan’s talent speaks for itself; expect him to explode into form the moment he steps onto the field in Bristol.
Tom Jordan
Tom Jordan, a craftsman of the backline, seamlessly weaves his game from 10 to 15 with effortless control.
His adaptability is a testament to his skill and versatility. Hailing from New Zealand, Jordan’s early rugby journey passed through clubs like Hamilton Old Boys and Waikato before making the move to Scotland in 2019.
The Ayrshire Bulls became home for the Scottish international. He played a vital role in their Super6 title win in 2021.
Jordan tallied 223 points in 37 appearances. Later that year, the professional game came calling. In November 2021, he penned a deal with the Glasgow Warriors, making his debut the following September—an ever-present force in Glasgow’s championship season, capping it off with his 50th appearance, which came in the URC final.
His sensational run in 2023/24 with Glasgow earned him an international call-up with Scotland, a testament to his skill and dedication. Jordan came off the bench against Fiji in the 2024 Autumn Nations Series.
Throughout that series, he got the nod at full-back against the Springboks. He would go on to earn more Scotland caps against Portugal.
A string of matches in the 2025 Six Nations earned him more international honours. During that time, Jordan’s versatility was on full display, as he lined up at inside centre.
Always alert, always dangerous, he breaks the line, creates tries, and finds himself in Lions conversations, but sadly misses out.
Last season
It was another strong year for Jordan at Glasgow last year. In the URC, he scored 34 points, two tries, and left 50 defenders in his wake.
A trademark of his game is his creativity. The evidence for this lies in his seven assists. Defensively, he is fearless, making 120 tackles with a 78% success rate.
Jordan is a very well-rounded player who makes a difference whenever he’s on the field. Fresh colours, same fire; he’ll aim to bring the roar of a Warrior to the heart of the Bears.
Making the move to England
Bristol Bears made their big move last season. It was announced that he would move away from Scotland. His front-foot style should fit seamlessly with Bristol.
The Bears tend to play an expansive style. Jordan will bring a good amount of experience to the Bristol set-up.
Whether he’s at full-back, inside centre, or fly-half, he should be a vital part of the team. Yet, it could give Jordan the chance to get consistent game time at a single position.
This should help him in the international game, as it can sometimes come down to a player’s determination.
Jordan’s move to Bristol feels like destiny—but only time will tell if the script delivers on its promise. The anticipation is high, and the future looks bright for the Bristol Bears with Jordan on board.
