If we look at the depth of the international squads of top tier rugby union nations like New Zealand, South Africa, France, Ireland, Australia, and Argentina most of them would struggle if they lost the top two players in most positions.
For instance, even if France lost their first line of star players in key positions – like Antoine Dupont at scrum-half, Greg Aldritt at No.8, and Melvyn Jaminet at full-back – they are not going to get like-for-like replacements.
