THE 2021 Lions tour of South Africa should not be measured too harshly, mainly because of the extraordinary Covid-battered conditions in which it has taken place, with neither team properly prepared for the three-Test series.
The Second Test was a dire spectacle, but some of the apocalyptic ‘end of the Rugby Union is nigh’ commentary it generated has been a long way wide of the mark, and also shows a poor grasp of Lions history.
