Tommy Freeman returned to the scene of his England debut yesterday as a Lion but admitted he never thought he would make it.

The Northampton wing was handed his first Test cap by Eddie Jones in Brisbane three years ago then experienced the downs of top flight rugby when he was left out of the 2023 World Cup under Steve Borthwick.
He has been a fixture in the national side since then and was a firm favourite to make the starting XV for the Lions against Australia but did not really believe it until he saw it.
