History maker Japan beat USA but miss out on quarter-finals

Japan became the first team to miss out on the World Cup quarter-finals having won three pool matches after they beat the United States yesterday.
The Brave Blossoms set the tournament alight in the opening weekend when they beat South Africa in Brighton.
They also had the better of Samoa last weekend but a heavy defeat to Scotland in round 2 cost them.
Tries from Kotaro Matsushima and Yoshikazu Fujita helped gave a 18-8 half-time lead with Taku Ngwenya crossing for the Eagles.
Amanaki Mafi extended the lead with Japan’s third try and although, Saracens full-back Chris Wyles crossed to give the United States hope, Ayumu Goromaru’s third penalty of the game sealed the win for Japan.
