LAST Friday it was my pleasure to be at Richmond against Doncaster in the Championship.
It was a close victory for the home team, and both sides played fast, attractive rugby with little aimless kicking, few reset scrums, few stoppages for injuries, all played out in front of a good crowd who loved every minute. And all for £15!
The following day it was my misfortune to be at Twickenham for England v Argentina, a slow rumbling affair with few skills demonstrated by either side, and constant stoppages. And my ‘cheap’ ticket cost £78.
The moral of the story: If you want to watch decent rugby played in the right spirit – and still have enough money to enjoy a few post match beers – head for the Championship, not Twickenham.
