George Martin marked his England return with a try against South Africa after more than a year out, earning emotional praise from team-mate Joe Heyes after his long road back from injury.

George Martin’s comeback last weekend in Johannesburg spelt good news for England and sparked emotion from one of his supposed hard man forward pals.

The second row scored in his first international for more than a year – the 45-21 defeat to South Africa at Ellis Park – after over a year away recovering from complicated surgery on nerve damage in his shoulder.
Martin, who turned 25 last month, was straight back to business smashing opposition players and running over them and justified Steve Borthwick’s decision to hand him an enhanced EPS contract despite his troubles.
