Steward’s thumb op

LEICESTER full-back Freddie Steward has had surgery on his thumb but boss Geoff Parling hopes to have him back in time for the Prem play-offs.
England ace Steward, 25, was hurt in Sunday’s 47-33 victory at Sale, which guaranteed Tigers a place in the Prem semi-finals. The 25-year-old has started 19 games for Tigers in all competitions this season. Parling said: “We’re hopeful he’ll be back before the season’s end.”
