France got it done against Ireland, but I might go against some of the adulation heaped on Fabien Galthie’s team after their big opening-round win over Ireland at the Stade de France on Thursday night.

In the 50 minutes before the French emptied their bench, and gave Ireland an entry point with two tries in three minutes either side of the hour mark, the run of the scoreline indicated complete French dominance, with a 22-0 half-time lead extended to 29-0 early in the second half thanks to a second touchdown by their ace try scorer, Louis Bielle-Biarrey.
