Where there is a will there is a way to win – not just big Will Skelton but the collective determination of a side that had come within a disputed refereeing decision of squaring the series seven days before.

The Wallabies used the desperate disappointment of that night in Melbourne as fertiliser and the conditions in Sydney favoured them: a biblical storm meant the game was played at a reduced pace as well as prompting a 38-minute recess and allowed Skelton and prop Taniela Tupou to go further into the match that they would have in balmy conditions with a high ball-in-play time.
