A hat-trick to beat them all

PETER Brown, born into one of Scotland’s most decorated footballing families during the Second World War, responded to the privilege by daring to do a hat-trick beyond the reach of his ancestors. In the 12 months from March 1971, Brown captained his country from No.8 to three successive victories over England, starting at Twickenham where he made a late try for Chris Rea and duly converted it to secure a 16-15 win.
