BARNES showed why they are one of the pacesetters as they overcame a gallant home side with a thoroughly professional display.
Westcliff, shorn of several key players, battled throughout, but stern Barnes defence, coupled with one or two unforced errors, always had them chasing. Nevertheless, Westcliff, on a luckier day, may have scored further tries.
Barnes were quick out the blocks, opening the scoring with a try for Cam Roberts, converted by Simon Keller.
