Redruth………………..43
Stourbridge………….. 8
REDRUTH got their campaign off to an eyecatching start with a bonus-point win against brave Stourbridge at a damp Recreation Ground.
The Reds roared out of the blocks to put the visitors under the cosh and they were rewarded with an unconverted try from wing Dean Bonds.
Fly-half Fraser Honey edged the home side further ahead with a penalty before Mike Penn got the visitors on the board with a penalty.
Great play from Redruth saw Honey launch a towering kick into the Stourbridge 22 for fullback Will Trewin to collect and dot down at the posts, with Honey adding the first of five conversions.
Redruth bagged two more converted scores before half-time, through centre Jack Simmons and hooker Richard Brown, the latter capping his 300th appearance for the Reds.
In between these scores there was a red card for Stourbridge prop Chad Thorne in an incident that also saw Trewin sent to the bin.
The second half lacked the pace of the first 40, but Redruth added tries through lock Todd Prisk, from a powerful maul near the Stourbridge line, and then replacement wing Kyle Bradley. Stourbridge managed a try by wing Dallas Ororo.
