I HAD the chance last week to help Upper Clapton Rugby club celebrate 140 years since the club was formed.
Based just outside Epping it was a real pleasure to join in the celebrations of a club that is at the heart of the game, the grassroots. The dinner that had been put off because of the pandemic was crammed full with players young and old and volunteer people who have been involved with helping the club survive through the years.
Every time I visit a club like Upper Clapton and meet its members, it makes me realise how lucky I was to have played the game when I did.
