DALLAS Jackals are leading the hunt to sign Danny Cipriani, who is leaving Bath when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Cipriani, who will be 35 in November, joined Bath 12 months ago after taking a break following his departure from Gloucester but has played only 15 games because of injury and illness.
Bath have struggled this season, slumping to the bottom of the Premiership table, and Cipriani’s days were numbered as soon as they signed Piers Francis from Northampton.
He is set to reunite with his long-time mentor Brian Ashton, right, who is now working for the Jackals.
The Dallas franchise have endured a difficult first Major League Rugby campaign and are anchored to the bottom of the Western Conference.

Former England boss Ashton, who launched Cipriani’s international career in 2008, is keen to lure him to Dallas.
He will find some familiar faces at the Jackals, with former Gloucester team-mates Todd Gleave and Henry Trinder already at the club having joined the MLR this year.
The squad is skippered by former Worcester fullback Chris Pennell and also includes ex-England U20 hooker Matt Frings and former Leicester loosehead Ryan Bower.
The Jackals are hoping that Cipriani will initially bring much-needed experience at No.10 and there are whispers he could take his first steps into coaching.
