Thomas: Early errors cost us

HEAD coach Jonathan Thomas blamed 's heavy defeat on a failure to turn their early pressure into points.

“There were opportunities for us in the first 25 minutes,” he said. “We had four line breaks where we dropped the ball – when you come to Sandy Park you have to take your opportunities and be relentless and we didn't do that.

“We tried hard to the end but when you are playing catch-up rugby the errors happen. We have got to be hard on ourselves. The game's about applying pressure and we released a lot of the pressure we put on them in that first 25 minutes.

“We have a lot of new players coming in – that's no excuse – but we had some new combinations and that probably reflected in how we played.

“There was plenty of effort but it was more with individuals than as a team.”

The penalty count cost the Warriors and Thomas added: “We knew we had to be extremely well disciplined and that wasn't the case. It wasn't foul play, it was simply the pressure they create.”
