Harlequins 25-14 Wasps: Quins stay in the hunt for first title

advanced to the Premier 15s final with victory over to keep up their hunt for an elusive maiden title.

Leanne Riley continued her strong form in club colours as Quins stormed into an 18-0 lead at the break, with the scrum-half dictating play in a quiet half for the visitors.

Riley's half-back partner Ellie Green kicked the first points of the match on the occasion of her 50th appearance.

Signs of the hosts' pack beginning to dominate at the set-piece paved the way for Vickii Cornborough to extend Quins' lead.

Hooker Amy Cokayne looked set to be the one to score from a driving maul until it was dragged down by Wasps. And with the advantage, Harlequins took one phase to cross the line with the power game of Cornborough impossible to stop.

Only two points had separated the two sides in the standings, but the quality of Harlequins told again ten minutes from the break.

Lagi Tuima released winger Jess Breach through the middle off the pitch and to the line prior to Green slotting another penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Giselle Mather fired up Wasps to respond ten minutes after the restart and Abby Dow fought her way over.

Harlequins responded immediately as Breach grabbed her second before her afternoon ended on a sour note when she was stretchered off the pitch. Head coach Gerard Mullen said she should be available for next week's final at Kingsholm.

Wasps were able to chip away at their opponent's 18-point lead thanks to a quick tap-and-go unleashing Andrea Stock over the line, converted by Flo Williams, but Quins held on.
