SARACENS discovered there will be no easy way back to the Premiership as they suffered a shock 25-17 opening-day defeat against Cornish Pirates at the Mennaye Field.
Director of rugby Mark McCall was the first to admit his side got their just desserts as Pirates won the war up front.
“They are a really good team and they were deserved winners,” he said. “We’ve had five games pre-season and we found out in those just how tough this competition is and how good they were. Today they were just better than us.”
