Wasps have completed the signing of tighthead prop Kieran Brookes to make the cross-Midlands switch to the Ricoh Arena.
The England international opted to leave Northampton Saints and not renew his contract after three years spent at Franklin’s Gardens.
The 27-year-old made 16 appearances last campaign for Saints but now joins the ranks at Wasps under the watch of Dai Young, who expressed his admiration for Brookes’ scrummaging ability.
“Kieran is a proven operator,” the Welshman said.
“He is a good addition to our squad, and adds to a pool of props which mixes experience with some fast-developing younger players.
“As we all know, having a solid set-piece is a crucial component in a successful team. Kieran’s arrival will further boost us in this area, and he also offers plenty around the park both with ball in hand and defensively.”
Brookes is a welcome addition to the Wasps front-row joining a crop of international players who he has already met on duty with England.
“There are also plenty of players I already have experience of playing with for England,” Brookes told Wasps official website.
“Wasps have done well in recent seasons and hopefully I can play a part as the club tries to push on to the next level.”
The last time the 16-cap prop represented his country came in the 2016 Six Nations when England beat Wales 25-21.
