Alain Rolland to hang up the whistle

Irish international referee Alain Rolland will retire from refereeing at the end of the 2013/2014 season.
Rolland, 47, who also played three Tests at scrum-half for Ireland, has refereed in three successive Rugby World Cups – 2003, 2007 and 2011.
His career highlight was taking charge of the 2007 World Cup final when the Springboks beat England 15-6 in Paris.
Rolland cited work and family commitments for his decision to call refereeing a day.
Rolland said: “I am starting a new job and I want to spend more time with (my wife) Lizzie and our young family who have been very patient. I cannot thank them enough for their total support over such a long time.”
