There is so much that is wrong with the game in England, could it be because our system failed to follow the French when the game went professional?
Since the start of the professional game back in 1995 the French just carried on with the system they had in place that rewarded players while they were playing and once they retired.
Players within the French league system knew what was expected of them and what rewards they would have off the pitch if they could deliver on it and remained loyal throughout their career.
