EVERY rugby career has highs and lows and I had plenty in mine but, looking back now, I wouldn’t change a thing. You didn’t play for Leeds Tykes for as long as I did for the money – my biggest flat-rate salary was £30,000 – you did it because it was a great club to be at, for all bar the final year or so anyway. What made the club attractive to players was the city, the facilities and the closeness to Headingley.
