ROOM 101
THE NOTTINGHAM FLY-HALF TAKES US THROUGH HIS PET HATES FROM THE RUGBY WORLD AND BEYOND

1. Scrums
As a fly-half I like to have my hands on the ball as much as possible and scrums take up so much time that could be better used to entertain the fans. I find scrums very boring and most of them end up in penalties anyway. Hardly any front rows make it into refereeing and it appears to me that the decisions are not that well-informed and based mainly on guesswork.

TRP VERDICT: We take your point but we’re more in the ‘scrum all ye faithful’ camp.
2. Christmas come early
People putting decorations up earlier than two to three weeks before Christmas Day need to have a word with themselves. In my mind, starting the build-up too early just takes away from what should be a special time of year. I don’t want to be hearing Driving Home for Christmas as I drive down streets illuminated with neon Santa signs in November!
TRP VERDICT: It gets a bah-humbug from us too.

3. Middle lane drivers
I spend a fair bit of time on the motorway and people who just sit in the middle lane really get on my nerves. I thought there was supposed to be a law against it!? If there is, it’s about time they applied it. It causes all sorts of unnecessary mayhem.

TRP VERDICT: We’re stuck in the middle with you on this one.
