ON THE BLIND SIDE
BRISTOL Bears are the front runners in the race to line up former Harlequins flyer Gaby Ibitoye, a free agent after a spell playing in Israel.
Ibitoye played in France for Agen and Montpellier last season, then had a stretch in the Middle East for Tel Aviv Heat under his old Quins teammate Demetri Catrakilis.
The former England U20 international, 23, who spent five years at Quins, is keen to kick start his career with a fresh beginning.
The Bears are keen on him, with Pat Lam looking to bolster his firepower out wide after a hugely disappointing season so far which has seen them struggle to get clear of the bottom two.
But they face competition for Ibitoye's services. United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors have asked about his availability and are being kept in touch with developments.
Premiership leaders Leicester Tigers are also interested in talking with him .
But Blindside understands the Bears are in pole position with more talks planned for this week which could iron out the details for the move.
