British & Irish Lions overcome feisty Queensland Reds

George NorthThe British & Irish faced their toughest challenge since the start of their tour of Australian but they remained unbeaten with a 22-12 win over the Queensland Reds in Brisbane today.
Owen Farrell opened the scoring with a penalty before a stunning solo try pinned the visitors back.
Reds winger Luke Morahan took a high cross-field kick in his own territory, before spinning passed Alex Cuthbert and collecting his own chip over the stranded Scot Stuart Hogg to touch down under the posts.
Soon after Farrell closed the gap with a penalty from a similar right-side angle to his first after a Queensland infringement.
was forced off the field with a shoulder injury after some heavy hits but his replacement , above, made a scintillating break down the left flank, offloading to Farrell who knocked on under pressure from Morahan on the try line.
From the resulting scrum scrum-half Ben Youngs benefitted from some sloppy work at the base by Reds No.8 Jake Schatz to score his first try on tour and put the visitors back in front 13-7.
Farrell added a penalty on the brink of half-time for 16-7 lead at the interval.
The second period began with more Lions pressure and Farrell again slotting a penalty to take the lead to 7–19.
Despite the increasing domination from the Lions, the Reds refused to be shackled and scrum-half Nick Frisby touched down after some good back division handling.
With time ticking down 2009 skipper Paul O'Connell earned his side a penalty in front of the posts and Farrell was faultless once more from the tee sealing the win.
With only the injuries to Tuilagi and Tommy Bowe (hand) blotting the copy book, the Lions now move on to face a Combined New South Wales-Queensland Country in on Tuesday.
