Junior World Cup-winning coach Martin Haag is poised to join the Scotland Women's team as an assistant coach.
Bath legend Haag, a former England inter national, worked with the USA Women's team at the last World Cup in New Zealand. He is set to link up with Scotland in time for the Women's Six Nations, which begins on March 25, and it is also thought that he will be on board for the new WXV tournament later this year.
Scotland's first opponents in the Six Nations are England who are looking for a new head coach following Simon Middleton's decision to step down at the end of the Championship.
Haag is known to the RFU following his U20s success and a good campaign with Scotland would put the 54-year-old very much in the frame for the Red Roses job.
Middleton, 57, who became head coach in 2015, led England to five Six Nations titles and four Grand Slams, oversaw their record-breaking 30-match winning run and also reached two World Cup finals.
Middleton, who also became the first head coach of a women's side to win World Rugby coach of the year in 2021, said: “I can't put into words how proud and fortunate I've been to be able to do this for the last nine years.”
