If you glance westwards as we approach the Six Nations you can witness a strange phenomenon across the Irish Sea, a nation holding its collective breath.
It’s all going far too well for Ireland and Ireland rugby fans have learned to be suspicious of such joyous interludes in their history, certainly in modern times. Invariably the house of cards comes crashing down and a World Cup year is often the catalyst with 2007 and 2015 being the prime examples while 2019 ultimately was nothing to write home about either when they got to Japan.
