Six Nations

Out of form Russell dropped for Ireland Clash

Finn Russell

Scotland fly half Finn Russell has been dropped to the bench with Blair Kinghorn taking over the 10 jersey for their final Six Nations game against Ireland on Saturday.

The out of favour British and Irish Lion has struggled for form in this campaign and was criticised for making a lacklustre chase and failing to attempt any sort of tackle during France’s opening try in their 36-17 defeat.

Head coach Gregor Townsend has made one other change from the team that started last weekend’s 33-23 win over Italy in Rome.

The other alteration sees second-row Jonny Gray replace Exeter colleague Sam Skinner, who is among the replacements.

Scotland are looking for their third win in what has been a Championship of mixed fortunes, with victories over England and Italy offset by defeats from Wales and France.
