Samoa in good shape to do well, says Lam

Pat Lam believes Samoa will pose the same threat in this year’s World Cup as they did in the 1990s when they beat Wales in Cardiff twice and reached two quarter-finals.
They finished second in their group three times that decade, but in the last two tournaments they have been fourth, missing out on automatic qualification for the following tournament.
Samoa, who are in the same group as England and Argentina, start their campaign against Chile on Saturday and Lam, who captained Samoa in 1995 and 1999, is confident they will push hard for a place in the last eight.
