Ollie Lawrence returned to the fold this week for a three-day training camp after six months out with an Achilles injury.

The Bath centre missed his side’s triumphant final and the summer’s British and Irish Lions tour after suffering the injury in the win over Italy in March.

Lawrence, 25, came off the bench in Bath’s 28-28 draw against in a pre-season friendly last Friday.

Northampton pair Fraser Dingwall and George Furbank have also recovered from injury and took part in the camp, as did Exeter centre Henry Slade, forced out of the summer tour by a hand injury.

Team news

His teammate Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, who missed most of the latter half of last season with a shoulder issue, is still sidelined, and Chiefs boss Rob Baxter said the winger is “touch and go” to return in time for the start of the Premiership season.

Captain Maro Itoje also sat out training as he goes through a managed return from a concussion suffered in the final Lions Test on August 2, while Owen Farrell, who has returned to from Racing 92, was left out of the squad.

Hooker Theo Dan, who lost his central contract this summer, was replaced by Jamie Blamire, below, who recently joined from Newcastle.

Seb Atkinson and Guy Pepper, who impressed on Test debut in the summer’s series win over Argentina, were included, but there was no place for Harlequins No.8 Alex Dombrandt, Bath centre Max Ojomoh or scrum-half Harry Randall.

Tom Curry recently had wrist surgery, while lock George Martin, who has not played since February because of knee and shoulder injuries, remains sidelined.

England’s autumn campaign begins against on November 1, before matches against Fiji, and Argentina.
