Lucy Att the double as Bears pile on the misery

Star turn: Lucy Attwood

Bears continued their impressive start to the Premier 15s season with an emphatic win away at Firwood Waterloo.

A Lucy Attwood double and tries from Becky Hughes, Sarah Bern, Elinor Snowsill and Amy Coles were enough to topple the hapless hosts, who went down to their third consecutive defeat and are yet to register a win this campaign.

It was a fast start from Kim Oliver's side, who took an early lead when Attwood went over for her first of the match and the clinical boot of Snowsill duly added the extras.

And they extended their lead just minutes later when Hughes – who was making her maiden start of the season – dotted down in the corner to put the away team in the driving seat.

The hosts could do little to thwart Bristol's considerable firepower, as they scored their third try before half-time when Bern powered over for her third score in just two games.

And at 19-0 against a depleted Firwood Waterloo that was all but game over, as the Merseyside-based team struggled for fluency or any form of defensive resolve.

Bristol rubbed further salt into the wounds by securing their bonus point shortly into the second period, when Snowsill brought her points tally to nine for the afternoon after she capitalised on a maintained spell of pressure.

Outside centre Attwood then went over for her second to inflict further misery on the home side, who failed to create any real try-scoring opportunities on what was an afternoon to forget.

And the rout was complete a few minutes later, when Coles crossed for her first Premier 15s try to send Bristol home jubilant and leaving Firwood Waterloo in urgent need of solutions.
