Wales Women’s captain Lillicrap makes Westcountry switch

Wales earn

Wales Women’ captain Siwan Lillicrap has swapped Bristol for Gloucester-Hartpury, as the Cherry & Whites continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 22/23 season.

Lillicrap, 34, joins 28-year-old England flanker Alex Matthews in signing for the Kingsholm club in the past 24 hours; Matthews having spent the last two seasons at Worcester Warriors.

The 45-capped Welsh skipper was the first female player to win a professional contract from the WRU, continuing a busy week of recruitment that started with World Player of the Year Zoe Aldcroft signing a new deal.

Head coach Sean Lynn said: “We are blessed to have a number of internationals here at Gloucester-Hartpury and we are delighted to have another experienced player in Siwan come and join us.

“She is a great player and I am really excited to see her in the squad as I know she’ll have a really positive impact on the players around her.”
