Pontypridd, who made a 350-mile round trip to North , opened up an early 6-3 lead in what was a cagey start to the game.

RGC made a fast start to the second-half with Dan Owen scoring an early try after some quick passing by the RGC backs. Danny Cross converted to put his side ten behind.

Just five minutes later, RGC skipper Afon Bagshaw scored a second converted try for his side and out of nowhere they were suddenly just three behind.

But the Valley Commandos showed their composure as Morgan Bosanko scored to regain their ten point lead.

This exciting second-half continued to ignite as RGC's Owen scored his second to get back within range. Frustratingly for RGC, Lloyd soon kicked a penalty to nudge Ponty to an eight point lead.

Cross was successful with a late penalty but it could not stop Pontypridd advancing to the last eight.
