SAM POCKLINGTON scored in the final minute to secure Doncaster Knights victory and sign off an excellent season with a third-place finish.
The Knights, for whom three of their outstanding players – forwards Matt Challinor, Ben Hunter and Wasps-bound Robin Hislop – were making their final appearances, welcomed back a crowd for the first time in 440 days.
Doncaster finish with a record of eight wins and only two defeats, but Championship basement boys Nottingham almost spoiled the party.
