Plymouth A …………47 Sheffield ………………. 5
PLYMOUTH returned to the top of the table with a seven-try triumph over newly promoted Sheffield.
Star of the show for ambitious Plymouth was No.8 Sam Daly who scored four tries.
Sheffield were given a real taster of what life in National 1 is going to be like, but to their credit they gave everything for the full 80 minutes.
Plymouth made a rapid start and took the lead when Daly powered over.
Skipper Huw Taylor quickly added a second before Plymouth were reduced to 14 when flanker Jarrard Hayler was carded.
Sheffield were struggling to match Plymouth’s physicality and the impressive Daly completed his hat-trick with two close-range tries that secured the bonus point.
Full-back Frankie Dart converted all four first-half tries. Daly started the second half where he finished the first with his fourth try.
Fly-half Harry Legg was next on the score sheet before Sheffield centre Barney Goatley got what turned out to be the visitors’ only points.
Plymouth completed the scoring when prop Cameron Doak scored his first try for the club, with Dart adding two more conversions.
