Sedgley Park …….. 17 Leeds Tykes ……….46
LEEDS Tykes secured a hard-earned, seven-try away triumph.
The visitors started strongly, picking up an early lead with a try from Aarin Yorke, converted by Eddie Cross-land, followed by a blistering score from Tom Williams.
Lewis Bradley made the response for the Tigers with a quick try around the corner of a ruck, converted by Oliver Glasse, only to be undercut by a Tykes try from Charlie Venables six minutes later.
Both teams then slotted a penalty each, first Glasse then Cross-land, but it was John Blanchard who rounded out the half with a try for Tigers to bring the scores to 17-20 at half-time.
The second half began similarly to the first, with the Tykes taking the upper hand early and Tigers struggling to respond.
Ewan Laughton grounded the first score after taking a penalty quickly in the 49th minute, converted by Crossland, giving his team the bonus point. Then a snappy crossfield kick from Laughton put Alex Green in for an easy try in the 56th minute, converted by Cross-field, at which point Tigers’ heads began to drop.
Green then scored once more from an interception in the 61st, leaving Tigers with no hope of a last-minute turnaround, and a final try from Eddie Brown denied them any bonus points as well.
