Leeds Tykes …36
Hull………………… 12
Leeds Tykes beat visitors Hull to register their first win since the reverse fixture in October.
Grayson Maguire scored the first of the hosts’ six tries after side-stepping several defenders. Tighe Maxwell-Whiteley converted.
A line break from centre Tom Williams gave the home side field position for Kieran Davies to score between the posts. Maxwell-Whiteley’s conversion was successful.
Hull found themselves a man down when Hall was sin-binned for pulling down a maul. Rhys Williams scored Leeds’ third try from a driving maul.
Taking advantage of the extra man, Leeds used the maul as an attacking platform. Tom Williams secured his side’s fourth try after 24 minutes when the ball was released from the back of a maul. Maxwell-Whiteley added the extras.
Hull opened their account when Alexander Todd crossed out on the wing. They were reduced to 14 men when the referee sent Laurence Cowen to the sin-bin.
After the break, Tykes back Williams grabbed his second try. Hull didn’t let up and much of the second half was scrappy as both sides battled to improve on their scores.
The hosts increased their lead after 65 minutes when Jacob Mounsey scored following up his own chip and chase.
With a few minutes of play remaining, Hull centre Stephen Johnson went over when Leeds missed a few tackles. Reece Dean slotted the conversion.
